The Founder & Practitioner
The Skin Edit was created from one core belief: Skin should be edited, not filtered.

Melissa Jordan
Certified Medical Laser Technician & Skin Health Professional
I don’t believe the goal of aesthetics should be to erase every line, pore, scar or sign of aging. Our skin tells the story of our lives — the love, the tears, the laughter, motherhood, stress, hormones, sunshine, aging and everything we have lived through.
My goal has never been to change the person looking back at you in the mirror. It is to help you understand your skin, correct the excess damage or concerns that bother you, and help you feel confident enough to love your skin bare.
I believe in aging gracefully. I believe in enhancing and supporting the skin rather than chasing perfection.
“Correct what bothers you. Protect what you have. Love your skin bare. That is The Skin Edit.”
My Story & Training
I am a Certified Medical Laser Technician with education and advanced training in medical aesthetics, skin health and energy-based technologies.
Before bringing The Skin Edit to Abbotsford, I owned and operated a skin clinic in Maple Ridge. In July 2026, The Skin Edit officially opened its Abbotsford location inside Aurelia Hair & Aesthetics.
Today, my practice is centred around corrective skin treatments, laser technology, hair and scalp rejuvenation, education and individualized care.
But for me, good aesthetics has never been about simply owning the latest device or following the newest trend.
Every treatment and every piece of technology needs to have a purpose.
When someone sits in front of me, the first question isn’t, “What treatment can I sell them?” It’s: “What does this skin actually need?” That question guides everything I do.
Extensive hands-on training and clinical certifications in modern medical aesthetics:
Clinical Philosophy
I work with women and men through many different stages of life — from teenagers experiencing acne to adults navigating hormonal changes, pregnancy and postpartum changes, aging, pigmentation, environmental damage, hair loss and changes in their skin they may not fully understand.
Many people arrive feeling overwhelmed by products and trends. My job is to take away that confusion by listening to your concerns, health history, lifestyle, and goals.
I don’t believe every concern should be treated with the same device. Knowing when not to treat, when to modify, or when to refer to a medical professional is essential.
The knowledge, assessment, and treatment plan behind that technology are what matter. We choose modalities that fit you, rather than forcing you to fit the machine.
The Daily Framework
A thorough review of your skin health history, lifestyle, and unique concerns.
Understanding why your skin is behaving the way it is and what it actually needs.
Safeguarding your barrier and supporting skin between appointments with intentional care.
Purposeful clinical treatments chosen to fit you — not forcing your skin to fit a machine.
Consistent, long-term health and graceful aging without chasing unrealistic perfection.
Customized Care
Throughout my practice, I work with concerns including acne and acne scarring, pigmentation and sun damage, melasma, fine lines, skin laxity, texture, enlarged pores, redness and vascular concerns, unwanted hair, hair thinning and scalp health.
I also work with clients whose skin requires a more thoughtful approach because of medications, health conditions or previous treatments.
My experience includes technologies such as Cynosure Elite iQ and Potenza RF Microneedling, as well as traditional microneedling, nano-infusion, LED, dermaplaning, chemical peels and other corrective modalities.
The same philosophy applies to skincare:
I truly love Vivier skincare and have seen what a well-designed, medical-grade routine can do when it is appropriately matched to someone's skin. But Vivier — or any one skincare line — isn't going to be right for everyone.
I would rather see someone consistently use a few products that are right for their skin than invest in an elaborate routine they can’t realistically maintain.
The aesthetics, laser and skincare industries are constantly evolving, which is why continuing education is such an important part of my practice.
Two to three times each year, I attend advanced training, educational classes, industry events and professional development opportunities to deepen my understanding of skin biology, laser physics, and regenerative aesthetics.
Continuing education isn’t about chasing every new trend. It’s about continually building my knowledge so I can make better, safer and more informed decisions for the people who trust me with their skin.
My clients deserve a technician who never stops learning.
The Bigger Vision
Instead of perfection, let’s talk about healthy skin. Instead of being afraid of aging, let’s talk about aging gracefully. Instead of covering everything with filters, let’s become more comfortable with what real skin looks like.
Lines mean we laughed. Changes in our skin reflect motherhood, hormones, stress, sunshine, celebrations, difficult seasons and years lived.
We don’t need to erase that story. We can simply edit the parts that no longer serve us.
Real results built on biology, not artificial illusions.
Evidence-based expectations and transparent care.
Healthy, resilient skin that still looks like you.
“Your skin doesn’t need to look like someone else’s. Your skin should still look like you.”
